Day 14: Prayer Challenge #2

Looking Beyond Appearances

The following Prayer Challenge is an essential part of the “Love Your Neighbor” Adventure. Without it, you might find it easy just to take a few minutes each day to read the Bible Study and not act on it. This program is not about changing your mind or even your heart; it’s about changing your life and your world!

Go with a friend to a public place where you are likely to see people you might otherwise avoid. You could go to an urban mall or perhaps to a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, prison ministry, or some other setting where you could volunteer. At this point, the purpose is not to engage people, but simply to see them in new ways. Feel free, of course, to respond to those who talk to you.

Pray as you begin: “Lord, let me see your image within people. Help me look past their appearance to see who they really are and what they might be thinking and feeling.”

Afterward write down your thoughts and feelings in the comment section below.

If you prefer to respond privately, send an email to David Nichols (dnich1803@gmail.com) letting him know how God touched your life through this.
