Day 31: Love in Action

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Comments

The first 30 days of the Love Your Neighbor Adventure  have focused on opening our eyes and ears (and our hearts!) to encounter people in new ways.

It is natural and essential that we do this as followers of Jesus, the Word of God who “became flesh…full of grace and truth.”

It is equally natural and essential that, as we follow Jesus, we not only encounter people differently, but act toward them with grace and truth.

The next 30 days of these devotional Bible studies will focus on putting love in action, serving people not just as a way of doing good, but as a way of showing them who God is and what God has done.

Reflections

Has your heart (and your eyes and ears) been opened during these past 30 days to enable you to look at people in new ways?

Do you find yourself resistant to changing how you look at others? What are the biggest barriers in your life when it comes to this?

Has “love in action” been descriptive of the churches you have known? If they could not be characterized as ‘full of grace and truth’, how would you describe them?

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for coming to us full of grace and truth. Lead me in paths that let me put love in action as  a way of showing people who you are.
