Each Prayer Challenge is an essential part of the “Love Your Neighbor” Adventure. Otherwise, it would be too easy just to take a few minutes each day to read the Bible Study and then do nothing else with it. The goal of this program is not to change your mind or your heart; it’s to change your life and your world!
The Fifth Challenge:
Seeing and Serving Jesus
Find a food pantry or soup kitchen where you can serve. As an alternative, go to an urban area with a friend and find someone who is homeless. Offer to walk with them to the nearest restaurant and buy them a meal.
The key here is not only to serve them, but to see them as God sees them and to listen to as much of their story as they are willing to share.
Take the words of Jesus seriously: “Whatever you do for one of the least of these, you do for me.”
Pray as you go: “Lord, as I serve someone today, let me have a profound encounter by looking past outward appearances to see you within.”
Afterward write down your thoughts and feelings. If you are comfortable doing so, leave a comment below or send an email (dnich1803@gmail.com) letting me know how God touched your life through this.
